Build SAX Study
Click a slot below, then click a series in the sidebar to assign it. The SAX Stack slot accepts multiple series (e.g. one per slice position).

Pick exactly 2 studies (from what's currently loaded) to compare side by side.
Click Import (or drag a folder onto the window) to load a folder of DICOM files. Only one study can be loaded at a time outside Compare Study; importing a different study clears what's currently loaded. Click a thumbnail on the left to load it into the active panel; click an empty panel first to make it active, then click a thumbnail. Layout controls how many panels are visible at once (1×1 up to 2×2). A series with more than one slice location shows an Expand slice positions button on the panel, which splits that one panel into a mini-grid, one cine per slice, all synced together.
The same scheme everywhere there's an image: the main Viewer, SAX Review, LAX reference panels, and SAX Quantify.
| Left drag | Pan (or draw/select, if a drawing tool is active) |
| Middle drag | Window / Level (brightness / contrast) |
| Right drag | Rotate: drag down for clockwise, up for anticlockwise |
| Scroll wheel | Zoom, anchored under the cursor |
| Ctrl + left drag | Always pans, regardless of the active tool |
| Double-click left | Reset zoom / pan |
| Double-click middle | Reset window / level |
| Double-click right | Reset rotation |
Viewer
| ← / → or , / . | Step frame (cine) in the active panel |
| ↑ / ↓ | Switch which series the active panel shows |
| Space | Play / pause the active panel |
| Delete / Backspace | Delete the selected measurement |
| Escape | Cancel the measurement currently being drawn |
SAX Review
| Space | Play / pause the whole stack |
| ← / → | Step one cardiac phase at a time |
SAX Quantify
| ↑ / ↓ | Move between slice rows (same phase) |
| ← / → | Move between phase columns (same slice) |
| Delete / Backspace | Delete the selected contour |
| Escape | Cancel the contour currently being drawn |
Measurement tools (Line, Region for a smoothed outline, Freehand to drag and trace) give length/area/mean-value readouts, and finishing one automatically reverts back to Select. A series with an embedded colour LUT applies it automatically; there's no toggle for it. Ref Lines (off by default) draws a dashed line on every other panel showing where the active panel's own image plane cuts through it, useful when different panels show different slice positions or orientations of the same study. Export PNG saves the active panel's current image, with contours and patient/series details burned in, upscaled for print quality.
Compare Study lets you view two studies side by side. Import the first study normally, then use Compare Study → + Import another study to bring in a second one without clearing the first. Tick both in the list and confirm; the sidebar splits into two labelled sections, and any panel showing one of them gets a thin ring in that study's colour (orange for the first, teal for the second) so you always know which is which, alongside the usual blue outline on whichever panel is active. Reopen Compare Study to ✕ Clear the second study (the original study can't be cleared this way) before importing a different one to compare instead.
Click SAX to start a short-axis analysis on the currently loaded study. It's a separate three-step screen from the main Viewer:
1. Build
Assign series to slots by clicking a slot, then clicking thumbnails. The SAX Stack slot accepts several series (a real stack is often one series per slice position), listed with each series' own slice location so a missing one is easy to spot. Up to 3 LAX slots hold long-axis reference series.
2. Review
Cines every slice position together on one shared phase cursor. Mark LVED / LVES / RVED / RVES records the phase currently shown; these marks drive the volumetry math later. LAX panels on the left show dashed reference lines for where each SAX slice cuts through them, for orientation.
3. Quantify
One large image plus a navigation table below it (rows = slice position, columns = cardiac phase). Click a cell, or use the arrow keys, to jump to it, then contour with LV Endo / LV Epi / RV / Pap / Wall Thickness. The Region/Freehand dropdown switches between click-to-place-points and drag-to-trace. Volumetry (EDV/ESV/SV/EF/mass for LV and RV) appears on the right as soon as any contour exists. Export Phase PNG tiles every slice at the phase currently shown into one PNG with contours burned in; Export to CSV exports the full volumetry tables.
